Game 2: Tampa Bay Lightning (1-0-0) At New York Islanders (0-1-0)

After a lackluster start to the 2011-12 campaign, the Lightning are looking to get off to a 2-0 start like they did in the 2010-11 season. That season the Lightning put together their second best season in the twenty year franchise history, and came within one goal of the stanley cup finals. Last year however, was a different tune, and it all came down to road woes. The Lightning put together a woeful 13-28 record on the road last season, including an 0-2 record against the Islanders on the road.If the Lightning can win their first road game of this season, it will only further advance the thoughts many Lightning fans are already having; this could be a special season.

Win or lose, this will be a special game for the Lightning franchise and fans, as the longtime Lightning captain, Vincent Lecavalier, will play in his 1,000th career game, the most in Lightning history. Lecavalier is one of two Lightning players in frachise history to score 50 goals in a season, along with Steven Stamkos. He has been the captain of the team for nearly ten years, and for that reason, this is a special game for the team.

Anders Lindback will square off against Evgeni Nabokov in this game. Lindback won his first game, while Nabokov lost his, but Nabokov put up better numbers in the GAA and save percentage categories. As it stands Nabokov has a .929 and a GAA of 2.04, but he faced the Devils, an offense nowhere near as potent as the Lightnings.

The Lightning havent won on the road against the Islanders since 2010, lets end that drought today, Go Bolts!

Around the division:
The Jets travel to Boston to take on the Bruins today, while fellow first place brethren Florida Panthers travel to Ottawa to face the Senators. The Hurricanes and Caps are off.
