Game 19: Buffalo Sabres (6-12-1) At Tampa Bay Lightning (9-8-1)

the Lightning are about to get a much needed break from their brutal schedule. The dumpster fire that is the 2013 Buffalo Sabres come to town. After a promising start to the season the Sabres are 4-13, theyve lost 4 in a row and six of their last seven. Theyve scored a mere 10 goals in their last seven games. As bad as theyve been, they still have the leading goal scorer in the NHL in Thomas Vanek on their team. How bad would they be if they didnt have him?

Looking deeper into why Buffalo has been so bad this year, shots against is a good place to start. Theyve allowed 35 or more shots an astounding 8 times this year, making the Lightnings 4 times look good. They are dead last in shots allowed per game, 28th in goals allowed, 20th in goals scored, dead last in power play percentage and near the bottom in penalty kill.

Head to Head
Goals Per game: Sabres: 2.47 (21st) Lightning: 3.83(1st)
Goals against per game: Sabres: 3.32 (28th) Lightning: 3.17 (25th)
Save Percentage: Sabres: .901 (20th) Lightning: .897 (23rd)
Power Play: Sabres: 11.3% (30th) Lightning: 23.9% (6th)
Penalty Kill: Sabres: 79.2% (20th) Lightning: 82.8% (12th)

Around the southeast: Jets are on the road taking on the Rangers, Caps and Canes face off in DC, and the Panthers are facing the Penguins at home.
